On having started a normal conversation with my friend after having a terrible practice at the basketball ground because of lower internal air pressure of the ball,We talked about Sudoku and Puzzles. We have both loved sudoku since we were children and the start of these events in different cities of India was different too.Her father used to be glad while she solved them and he was one of the reasons she started to play it,after subscribing to a weekly in school. She read and understood it herself by reading the rules over and over again and practically getting crazy with matching answers every time a new one came.
My start was different.My elder cousin used to prepare for government examinations and thus his aptitude was top-notch. His scores in this section were amazing and he liked solving new things.One fine day,I saw him wracking his head against the boxes and numbers designed as 9x9.At first I did not understand and it triggered another short memory which occurred when I would have been 6 years old.My neighborhood friend told me that the game called sudoku in small keypad phone is only about coloring the small empty boxes.Silly us! But anyways,her knowledge was wrong and thus it did not go well with me until I saw my brother that day.
I inquired about the rules and Oh My God,they were tough. But nevertheless,the initial push had been given.To keep things rolling,I needed a constant source which was none other than the everyday newspaper.I used to solve each day.Someday I used to get it wrong,someday correct and other days,just could not find the numbers to fill. The empty boxes ate me up I think.They dampened my spirit and Everyday while my Mum used to watch me with it,she gave me an earful about just idling around.So the habit faded slowly. I knew the rules and I liked it,but just stopped playing regularly. Years later when I entered college,I encountered some newspapers while arranging my hostel room.And there is a habit of mine to look through the comic and fun section.I find some cartoonist representation that is either funny or a satiric assault.Then my eyes fell on Sudoku.It was after a long time and since no one would scold me here,I started to solve it.And it was a difficult one,so couldn’t fill many numbers. And just then someone texted me and I just sent its picture to him,To which the reply was that he is going to solve and will reach in some time.True enough,he reached me back in around 10 minutes and he solved a few more. This piqued my interest and he further said about gaming app.And I went on to install it.I play it now continuously but I have also become a kind of addict to this.Thus I really hope this continues to be a sideline entertainment and not be in its enslavement. Some things in life are beautiful.Beautiful memories.Beautiful lessons. Knowledge is power.Let the power define you and not rule you.
