What college does to you,
Preparing for exams in an engineering college takes a real shift. Like school students attend all the classes and take their exams seriously, the opposite happens in college. School makes sincere students and college somehow switches it to irresponsible adults, of most people. Or the correct way to put it is, the things that do not interest us and are under no compulsion gets sidelined. This proves to be good too because amidst a hundred things, not all can be accomplished and certainly not in one day.
Being in the college, I myself have seen a load of things which are in no way relevant, still are included in the curriculum. Sounds weird, but that’s true. Happens to all the people in the world. And we still find our ways to battle it out. Because whatever lessons are learned or forgotten in college, the art of surviving is taught really well. When you are surrounded with people from different places who live in their own fashion and have their own set of rules and living style, you try to match cultures and see what new blends can be created. In doing this, ideas are exchanged and new thoughts are processed. Some suit well, others just feel bullshit. The people may also feel right or wrong. Their opinions and concerns can put you in trouble too. And what do we do then? We learn the art of dealing with it, sometimes with the help of friends at college, or sharing at home, or just by strengthening yourself. That’s how we learn. That’s how we grow. And that’s how we survive.
College can be quite a place to deal with. The entire new world with people bubbling with different types of personalities are each a universe on their own. Analysing and knowing their intentions is the first step to building trust. Our own tribe has to be found before we start sharing our details and feeling fine. It’s a common thing for humans to seek people when they are at a new place. The uncertainties, the new flavours, the new environment, the new living ways, just don’t sit well in the first go. It takes time. It takes a while to adjust and absorb the environment. Surviving is not easy for sure, but it builds us. It strengthens us, empowers us and teaches us. Thus, choosing our own selves becomes a priority for us. It becomes a choice and proves to be good too. While the decision builds our personality, we try finding things of our interest and start to choose our interests. In subjects, in fields, in works, in people. It is a long way in this but it happens in the end. Because when you choose yourself, it won’t do you wrong. In the long run, it will be fruitful. So let not that shade of doubt and gloom take away your shine. Study what you want to and do what you love to. Let the creative potential free from your tap. It’s time to choose your life. It’s time to believe in your dream. It’s time to build it all.
